I see what your saying but I really think that you've just been lucky...

I've known LOTS of people who's cars got messed up when they're the daily driver...

Oh and I wasn't implying you hadn't been to college... I was just saying in my experience daily drivers get trashed... especially around colleges or cities...

My civic has been hit w/o anyone leaving a note over 6 times... and it's ALWAYS washed and waxed... so it's not like people can't tell I care for my car... people just generally aren't very forthright... or honest...

If I had ANY car that I wanted to keep pristine I would drive it only on nice days and garage it otherwise... (and 64 ferrari or not a 30k car that is BRAND NEW is something I'd want to hold it's value for as long as possible and stay as fresh and new as possible..)...

My dad had a 95 porsche and when he started driving it to and from work everyday (spring/summer/fall) instead of only on nice days it went to hell in a handbasket real quick.. nick dents chips etc...

If you've gotten away doing otherwise you are lucky... I wouldn't advise anyone who wants to keep their car mint to do the same....

I'm guessing the reason you said maybe a 64 ferrari is because you see it as irreplacable... but a 30k sports car for a college student is pretty irreplacable too... especially with a 1000 dollar deductable....

Highlander... what would you do if it was a 1500 dollar hit to a door? or even just a nice scrape up a couple of panels... insurance won't pay and you'll be in the middle of school and I assume not working... that would RUIN you're car...

I'd get a daily driver (especially if it's affordable)... but like I said that's my opinion.
