Actually, it's quite rare that a one company uses another's engines. Other parts...that's different. Again...I direct you to Ford and Mazda. Ever notice a bit of similarity between the later model Mercury Capri (not the '79-'86 Mustang-like models) and the Mazda Miata? And don't think it's only American based companies using foreign motors...it goes both ways. I don't think GM is using the Honda motor because they can't figure out how to get efficient power from a smaller displacement motor...I think it's because they're too damn lazy to try. They're pretty content to rest on their laurels.
