the reason you shouldn't change the oil till at LEAST 1000 mi. is becasue those tiny shavings that the filter doesn't catch smooth out all the little imperfections in your cylinder walls and as the dude said your rings WILL NOT SEAT PROPERLY if you change the oil too quickly... even engine builders will tell you this... those shavings are the best honing equipment in the world.
