Chris-
As far as RX-7's being unreliable JUST because of the apex seals is rediculous... I told my buddy (with a turbo II) about your post and he cracked up before I told him about my (poking fun) response. They are RIDDLED with problems electrical... computer... suspension... TONS of problems WAY more than the admittadly problematic talon/eclipse. My whole point of the talon was with extra money PRE alloted to rebuild just about the entire drive train with buschur parts... this would yield Low- a 13-14 sec 7000 dollar nasty car OR High- a 9 second 10-20000 dollar car.

A. civics ARE NOT LIGHT my buddies 70 Impala weighs all of 1000 lbs more than my EX and has a 400 C.I. engine..
200 Hp from bolt ons on a civic???? I'm not even going to justify that with a reaming. Even with 200 whp a civic would get smacked up and down by a talon with the same money put into it....(given enitial cost and cost of upgrades).
Pdiggity-
chris already straighten you out. that's second gen... and even then I was recommending getting a buschur set up so that's fixed even if it were 2nd gen.
Cashslick-
he said no 240... and a used talon 1st gen will never cost as much as a civic.
OPAK-
The IS engine is just as suitable for turbo as is. People turbo them ALL the time I'm not sure exactly what 3liter is in it but it's from there sports car... I think it's the inline six from the supra... Plus it's 3.0 instead of the skyline 2.4... and swapping that in would be a FULLY custom job... plus the skyline is AWD and the lexus is not good luck making that fit. If you want to stick RWD then an RX-7 is worth looking into but BE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR GETTING INTO. My friend is on the brink of tears weekly because of his car and it's issues... go to some of the rx-7 forums you'll see what I'm talking about. You'll love it but it'll make you work for your fun.
Other than that I don't know what to tell ya.. If your looking for something new and nice like a lexus IS then sh1t I'd say go for it.
