Damn...I'm glad someone knows what's up. The next person who tells me that Eminem is a hip hop artist will definitely be shot in the face. The guy's got skills and can flip words well but calling him a hip hop artist definitely sullies the good name "hip hop". Where the hell were you people when KRS-One came up with 16 ball ryhme style?

I also know what you mean by all people calling electronica techno. I'm currently logging a few hours a week at a Borders store in KC that was voted to have the best selection of electronica in the city. It was cool to be recognized as I helped build up the electronica section but then we got all these kids who just wanted Paul Oakenfold and Fatboy Slim. Not to be a music snob, but there are artists out there who are infinitely better and define their generes better than those two homos. If you want to group everything like goa, hardcore, trance, downbeat, tablatronic, esoteric, and ambient into the category of "techno" then you should be lined up with the folks who think Eminem is a hip hop artists to save me some time on my aim.

Personally, I love hip hop. Groups like Blackalicious and compilations like "Solesides" have definitely musically influenced me. But at the same time I think rap is total trash. To quote the equally worthless Greg Allman, "rap is short for crap". It's also sad that true hip hop acts will continue to struggle while acts that appeal to the lowest common denominator (I'm talking to the 50 cent fans here) will continue to sell through the roof. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for sponsoring a worthless and meaningless form of "expression" and maybe it's time you realize it for what it is...a chance for these dicks to glorify their own egos and make pointlessly catchy songs for you to dance to in clubs. Real music will rarely be played in clubs because it rarely catters to the lowest common denominator.
