I'd still have to say the way someone "Looks" then the way the "Appear" are 2 totally different things.
Take the scenario... you'd have to be a guy, or maybe a girl, but you're at this club, and you see this breathtaking girl sitting at the bar. I'm talking Supermodel here. So you walk over to see what's up & you overhear her talking...and she's being a total snatch to the bartender or someone around her and cussing every other word. Her "appearance" might change to you b/c you got an impression of how she acts.
But her face has not changed AT ALL b/c she's a snatch. Just the way you look at her has changed.

(of course in the girl scenario, she'd have to be a muff diver. Ugh
