About PIAA lights

Ok I am totally clueless about which headlights to get. I checked out www.autodynamic.com to see what headlights they are selling. And am interested in getting PIAAs. I am looking at the Xtreme White Plus and then the Xtreme White. They are the same price but the volts and watts are slightly different...

Xtreme White Plus says...12V 51W = 115W, 4000k

Xtreme White says...12V 55W = 110W, 4150k

What does that actually mean?

Either one will be fine. The 4150k is the color temperature, measured in kelvins. Check a light scale (or I'll try to find one) to see where those fall. Bright white is my guess, I have 5000ks and they look a little blue/white.

I had some of those but one burned out after about 1 1/2 years.

How to stop wiring from burning?

My problem:
Installed Hyperlite white plasma bulbs in my 98 civic
(110-150w i think)
4-5 months later, drivers headlight stop coming on. (only a slight glow)
Come to find that the bulb socket is melted and the wires leading to the socket are fried (insulation is burned off).
The bulbs are still working fine.

I've replaced the wiring and went back to stock-type bulbs, which suck arse.

Is there anything I can do that will let me use these bulbs with out frying the wiring again?

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance.

m2 but the speed shop I bought it at, gives a one year warranty. So I exchanged them for the xtreme whites. Hella bright, hella white!

I think you're thinking of the 959s or the 1100x's......you mean fog lights, right??

No, I'm talking about light bulbs for your driving lights.
