heat shield over headers

ive gotten different answers to this so ill ask again, do you have to have the heat shield on a daily driver, i dont think you really need it, just wanted some more input

i took it out and the paint on the hood(on the inside) cracked from heat.

Yeah leave it on if you want to take it off and paint it a color or something to make it look nicer. Its there for a reason.
