CAI in cold winter weather..bad???
 

I just put on a Vibrant CAI about a month ago and its gonna snow here pretty damn quick, within a month or so is my guess. anyways, i was wondering if i should put my stock intake back on for winter? The coldest it got here last winter was -40 Degrees CELCIUS. I shouldn't really be gong through any water this winter but will the cold weather f*** it up a little or what? I am dumb, please help me. oh and it doesn't have a bypass valve or anything like that.....thx

what ? the cold weather made my car refuse to start on monday on tems of 37F. i converted it to a short ram for the winter. the car is more eager to accelerate now for some weird reason.

So it would probably be wiser to switch back to stock for winter then?

I use mine all winter with no problems. I drove through a snow storm with it :paranoid:

its caus short ram keeps some low end tq, your dont have as much high end now though.

I haven't had a problem with mine yet. I've had it on for about 2 years. The winters in Ky aren't the worst but do get bad. Good luck!

I've had my CAI on for 2 winters; no problem.

Maybe the short ram acts more like a CAI in the winter because the air's so cold that the temp @ short intake isn't significantly warmer, like it would be during hot weather. ???


holy crap! that's way colder than -40 degrees FAHRENHEIT!

Ya..i remember getting ready for school last year one morning and looking at the thermometer..it read -41 degrees Celcius...add onto that a windchill factor of like -7 or so....brrr

well, your engine will still generate its under hood temps. -40 will help ALOT but your still stucking semi hot air... i think im getting cold just htinking about it. 40 is cold here in florida

Well i still have my stock air intake so i'll just keep on the CAI for now and see how it goes, if i got any probs, i'll switch to stock for winter...it snowed early this morning..just a light little crap snow
