i downloaded a movie but it wont play on windows media player, so im wondering what plays .avi files?

you need to download the divx 3, divx 4 codecs.
Get the newer and older version and install them.

For some you need real plyaer as well.

You can get a program that tells you the 4CC code and then you can get the right codec.

If the codecs that you downloaded come with a player, you dont have to use that player.

You could just use windows media player.

Get the latest one tough (WMP).

follow the instructions that come with them.. It's not that hard.
