want to be a honda god
i just ordered the helms honda service and repair manual today for my civic. are there any other good books or mags to read to get the very technical details of my civic?
|
You are starting out the right way. Read that thing and you'll learn a whole lot.
|
yup. that's a good thing to start with, or you could get some mitchel manuals. they have some things there that will blow your mind. that's how i figured out my tranny.

Hehe, you won't believe this, but my 3.5" drive crapped out on me. Getting another one soon though  I really want to check those out. |
they are well worth it. if they don't want to install tell me and i might have to send you some images of the floppies. i can't install them on my laptop since it does not have a fdd

I'm doing a new install of my OS (which I have to buy.... damn XP activation  I know you can cheat it, but...) I'll pick up a drive when I get it. I was going to go 2kpro, but I think I'll go XPpro instead. I can get that for 50% off... if my bookstore has it

i have the 2k pro with no cd key. gotta love corporate edition stuff. also i might get my hands on a xp pro without a cd key ;)

Screw XP IMHO. Get W2K. It's older, but works better... |

I know the link says "Ultimate Guide", but what aspects of the Civics does it cover? Performance, repairs, etc.? |
BDC's link is a book, that covers all kind of mods for civics. From Body kits to wheels to performance upgrades.. Ive thumbed through it at the book store.. There are a couple out there that are really good for the beginning tuner.
Read import magazines and stuff like that also. They help some too. |
....and watch The Fast & the Furious.
Remember to weld the floorboards in. |

I heard that as long as you watch the Fast & the Furious you're technically able to skip all the reading... heh ripthesystem |

XP Pro works great. But keep in mind its not made for old hardware. Alot of people make that mistake only to find out they're s.o.l...... |

Well, I don't know where to start... I've been doing this computer stuff for a long time. I used to take a week off work and go to Comdex every year. I ran a successful multi-line Wildcat! BBS before the Internet became popular, yada yada yada. What I'm saying is I'm not a noob when it comes to OS's. Without putting you to sleep, I'll say that I use what works best. I tried out, but completely skipped Windows 1.0 through 3.11 - they were total POS's IMHO. Win 95 worked pretty good. WinNT 3.0 was better, but didn't support practically any hardware. WinNT 4.0 was a rip-off. Win 98 was an improvement over Win 95. Win 98 SE worked great. Win ME sucks. Then came W2K. It should have been called NT 5.0. It is a MUCH MUCH MUCH improved WinNT with great hardware support and a Win 98 GUI. W2K rocks! But, after 2 years, Microsoft decided to dump it in favor of XP, which is just a skinned version of W2K, with myriads of problems. XP is pretty, but a definite step down in stability and reliablility. I don't know of any large businesses that have migrated to XP, nor do I think they will any time in the near future; it's just too flakey. I've tried XP numerous times on old and new equipment alike (as little as a month ago), and it sucks IMHO, not the least of which is Microsoft now wants YOU to pay for bug fixes, et cetera. It's nothing but a cash-cow for them, and Homey don't play that game. Anyway, without going into further detail, if you want a stable Windows OS, you basically have two choices, Win 98 SE and W2K. I use them both and they both work great. I'll be glad to furnish you with more links than you would care to read, backing up my claims, but as you said - this is going way OT. Anyway, those are my feelings on the matter... :bandit: |
