Need ideas for 02 Accord Coupe EX

Sup guys!

Just got myself a new 2002 Accord Coupe EX 5-speed. I'm very excited and glad I found you guys here. Looking to change a few things and wanted to see what you guys think:

Any suggestions on how I can add 10 to 20 hp to my ULEV I-4?

Anyone upgraded to 17" rims and what do they think? Looking to swap stock wheels/tires for some 215/45/17's.

How about lowering? What have people done and what do they think?

Thanks so much for any input. Can't wait to get started!

hmm add 10-20 hp ? start with an AEM cold air intake, then move to the exhaust, headers and a high flow cat.

for suspension it depends what you want: rideadjustability get a set of tein coilovers, if u want a fixed ride height get some koni yellows with some eibach or neuspeed springs.

about the wheels i think you are ok but make sure you get some tires with a higher speed rating than 89 like the stockies

What he said. And you might want to add pulleys to the list of things to consider for the power/engine response department.

Personally, I'd get 225's for the 6th gen....I'm planning on running 225/40/18 when I get my wheels. You can run 19" on the 6th gen depending on how much you lower and what offset you go with. I think 17" looks a little small for the 6th gens, but they'll give you lower weight than 18" and thus better acceleration.

cool...thanks guys for the tips!

for the lowering, i was thinking getting a set of h&r sport springs with stock shocks. what cha think?

i know the car is new but, the shock will blow after a while if the drop is too low

What's the drop on the H&R's...

1.8 and 1.7?

Hondaman's right...you WILL have to change the shocks...although...depending on the drop, you might be able to change the shocks a bit later...

I have the Eibach Prokit, drop of 1.5" and the ride quality's pretty good. You gotta remember that with a large drop and 17 or 18 inch rims, ur ride quality will also be diminished...

215-45-17 is not the right size... your speedometer will be offset if you use that size..

I have 225x45x17 on my 6th gen(99)....

look!

If you want 215's then 215/45/17 is the correct size to go with. 225/45/17 provides a closer-to-stock diameter, though. That is, of course, if you want 17". The 215/45/17 are 98.5% of what stock diameter is on the 6th gen (195/65/15).....do the math and you'd only lose a couple mph at 100mph, a speed where your spedo isn't even accurate to begin with.

you guys rock!

think i'll go for the 225's then...now i just have to find some koo wheels. i wish i could get the wheels from the CL....

as for a lower and firmer ride, anyone tried Ground Control's coil-over kits? if not, how about other coil-overs? how's the ride? is it true i can still keep my OE shocks with coil-overs?

sorry about all the questions...new to this..obivously :-)

Gut your cat .
Don't listen to the hype about back pressure and and it won't add much power , its all lie's . Add mil elimator to your rear 02 sensor to prevent getting a MIL light .
A CAI is good mod as long as the filter is in a actual place that draws cold air .
A good set of 4-2-1 headers will usefull power instead of peak power .

good choice going with 225/45R17 - they're 0.01" shorter than your stock tire.

i'd only go with 215/45R17 if you were a loser who had 14" stockers (like me).
