tire pressure

This is a spinoff from a post by eXwiLL94...

My civic's user manual recommends a tire pressure (29/30, I think) for the stock tires. When I went from 185/65/14 to 195/55/15 with higher-rated (both speed rating and max pressure rating) tires, I asked the place I bought 'em, tire manufacturer and my honda service guy what tire pressure I should use for everyday driving, and none of the answered agreed.

How do you decide what pressure to run in your larger-than-stock tires?

I find that 34 psi in mine gives good handling characteristics and mileage, and I found that through trial and error.

i alweays have mine to 33/32 even if i have the stock tires rather than 29/28 as reccomended on the door jamb

Trial and error is the best way..

Less air pressure will be a little more comfortable, you wont feel all the little bumps in the road, and it can keep your steering wheel from pulling side to side really bad.

More air pressure you get less role so its more performance oriented. But then you have the downsides listed above.

I say play with it and find a happy medium your comfortable with.
