While "crusing", there isn't much load on an engine, hence you're not boosting at all. Boost is load dependent, the more load you place on an engine, the more you're going to spool the turbo.

You cannot turn it off, just turn down the boost and shift at low RPM's.

97CivicFerio 02-13-2002 08:28 PM

Yep, just keep it easy on the throttle and you should not get into boost.:)

MrCLoWnY 02-16-2002 04:29 AM

I can go all the way up to 80 mph without boosting a pound.

97CivicFerio 02-16-2002 10:02 AM

Yeah Clowny, but where's the fun in that! LOL!

ajn 02-17-2002 12:05 AM

just keep your eye on the boost guage, and accelerate slowly

btw: I haven't been here in a while, it's nice to see everybody again! ;)

97CivicFerio 02-17-2002 08:16 AM

I know Clowny, I was messing with ya.
I am doing well, working and trying to keep everything together.
My setup is done except for the RC440 injectors and the manifold. I plan to buy those with my tax return. :D

Im lookin at his mods and he has all the stuff that is needed for turbo but it doesnt say turbo and it says AEM CAI..if im not mistaking, you cant that intake with a turbo'd civic? The boost gauge can also be used for vaccum proposes so....=] Ive seen a non turbo cavailier with a boost gauge.

juvenile 02-21-2002 03:48 PM

LOL
Why did he do that? A boost gauge on a non-turbo car?

Because a boost gauge is also a Vaccum gauge. Maybe he intends on boostin' soon or something. Its actually smart when you think of it. =] Why buy just a vaccum gauge when you know you will be turbo'd sooner or later when the boost does the same thing with the vaccum side as well for the same price?? Thats why! =] Although, I do hate that guy...it was just a smart idea, unless he doesnt ever plan on turbo. Then hes just a dumbass.

juvenile 02-21-2002 11:30 PM

Vaccum gauge?

Yea, you know how they make thoses hoses for cars to dress up the engine and such. Those are vaccum hoses, if a hose is disconnecting it will cause a vaccum leak. All cars are suppose to have a certain vaccum at idle and (without boost) it should be at 0 while flooring it. When you boost you add pressure to the engine. Hence PSI: Pressure per square inch. =] Look at a boost gauge. All the numbers under the zero is vaccum. =]
