Shin splints
who has them and what do you do for them?
I ice my shins after i run. I also recently got new running shoes and I do toe raises. anyone else do anything? |
I get them in my right leg. I usually just stretch a lot, and take it easy when I feel them coming on so they don't get really bad.

See with my school. I have no choice but to run and exercise. And they are BAD right now. To the point where i can't really walk that well.

I had those when I used to skate a lot... I found that better shoes and either ankle or knee support helped out a LOT...
Also examine the mechanics of your feet while running... I know that when the palm of my foot would "slap" the pavement that made it MUCH worse then if I used the toe area or heel of the foot. Another thing to try is to try to be lighter on your feet... IE do most of the lifting of your body weight on the push off not the landing of the foot. Also try to get shoes that have a curve to the sole of the shoe so it automatically leads your foot into a smooth transition. |
I used to get them when I ran in bad shoes
I used heat and mild stretching after and that seemed to help more than ice did. |
I just got new shoes as stated before. Ran in them twice and it's getting better.
I'll try some of those suggestions thanks boys. |
