An odd question

Ok...so my mom owns a '98 Toyota Camry and the remote fuel door release under the driver's seat isn't opening the door anymore. I popped the trunk looking for the emergency fuel door release cable and guess what...there isn't one. I looked all over that damn trunk...nothing. I know it's not a Honda...but maybe somebody here has owned a Toyota before. I used to really hate Toyotas...and now my disdain has been born anew.

Thanks there Paul Bunyan.:D Actually she got gas today and had to jimmy it open with a screwdriver. I don't like the idea of metal on metal when fuel is nearby. I think I might be able to get to the latch release from the trunk, but she'll complain to high hell about having to do that until it gets fixed.

is it electric or cable? i'd check fuses etc.

IALuder 08-10-2005 11:54 AM

^beat me to it. if its cable follow the cable.

GT40FIED 08-10-2005 04:52 PM

I'm pretty sure it's cable. I think what happened it that the spring that pops the door out has either worn out or just broken altogether. You can hear something working when you pull the tab to open the door, it just doesn't open.

Just take the Fuel door off.. Its better then scratching the shit out of the car with a screw driver, until you can get it fixed.:D
