CABLE/DSL Internet issues..

Hi!

My cable internet service provider has a stupid @ss upload limit set @ 15k/s..

Do you know, how I could maybe boost the upload speed?
Hardware or software..

;)

Thanks,

JP

15k/s? call them and tell them thats stupid. maybe that'll boost it

Call them and tell them to shove that modem up their asses. there is no way to boost the upload speed.

I already did.. Didnt work though..

Its silly, cause I could download at mad speeds, but uploading is a freaking joke.

that's becauise they don't want people setting up servers, and killing bandwidth. My DSL line is like 12KBS but uploading works up to 33KBS for some reason

hmmmmm, alright heres the deal. just call them from payphones in various areas and threaten them. if each one of us does so, im sure something will be done about your upload speed

Actually it will cost me..

I have a 2 year contract.. 1.5 years left..

Plus these are the only guys that offer cable in my area.

I dont want DSL, cause the download speed is gay.

The fact remains, that downloading is more important than uploading.

why you signed a contract i do not no but boy that was dumb.. dont mean to rub it in but i pay monthly.. what made you sign?

it might have been dumb.. but thats the way it works over here.

the minimum you can sign for is 1 year. Plus there are no other Cable providers over here.

That must really suck!
How much does it cost if you cancel?

When downloading from a good fast FTP, I usually hang in the 500's.. (Using DOS FTP, for more accurate numbers..)

When downloading from a website thats on a superfast server, and use JetCar to split the download.. I hang in the upper 600's..
So the total download bandwidth is probably a little greater than that.

what isp you with bro?

Videotron.. They are the major cable tv/net provider for quebec.

ya they all have slow uploads compared to the download because they want to charge you more to get the better upload speed. i'm guessing you can buy a better package for about 2 times the money with a better upload speed. they normally call it their business addition.

ya its something like that..

I'm pretty happy with the service and all.. Plus their price is pretty good so I wont cry about it..

Only, uploading at 1/2 the speed I'm able to download would be

hey man, for my cable (road runner) they have 2 dfferent networks, a week ago i got a new motorola cable modem (surfboard) the last one can't remember what type of motorola modem or network, but now that i'm on the doxxis network using this cable modem i get 2mb up 368kb up so i get about 400kb/sec download and upload fastest at 50kb/sec

see if they have other networks available. your node is probably packed full
