i just got my koni yellows GC coilovers and Brembo cross drill rotors ordered for my ride. but i need new pads.

which brands are there and which are the top three best iyo??

VR4_Craver 09-06-2004 02:26 PM

endless, aem pads should work,Didnt brembo send pads too?

pdiggitydogg 09-06-2004 04:03 PM

I had aem on my ex calipers and switched to axxis ultimates w/ the integra calipers....I like them a lot better. Much cleaner

IALuder 09-06-2004 04:16 PM

i just bought the rotors. no pads. so axxis ultimates are pretty good?

GT40FIED 09-06-2004 04:26 PM

EBC or Hawk. Not sure if either makes a Honda pad but it's worth checking. Those are damn fine brake pads.

pdiggitydogg 09-06-2004 04:47 PM

oh yeah, hawk makes excellent pads too

ebpda9 09-06-2004 04:49 PM

never, never get ebc pads: they will wear so fast, you will have a shit load of dust on your wheels. the only thing they are really good at is stopping the car. I worn mine in less than 2 months.

thermal 09-06-2004 04:50 PM

hawk is the bizomb...

Really? Did you bed them when you first got them? Mine lasted me for just under a year and that was with a lot of hard driving. But then again I bedded them when I first got them on. The dust was pretty minimal too compared to most of the off the shelf stuff I'd bought in the past.

ebpda9 09-06-2004 04:54 PM

no, i just put them on and went driving.

Well there's your problem biatch!:D Most pads come pre-bedded, but it's always a good idea to do a little extra work yourself to make them last a little longer.

ChrisCantSkate 09-06-2004 05:11 PM

haha yeah ebc's last longer than 2 months, i'd say about normal amount of time for a performance pad. but i would go with axxis again. i have no complaints and i got the middle of the line ones.

IALuder 09-06-2004 05:12 PM

hmm, i check out hawk pads.

thanks for the help fellas!!!

Accord Man 09-06-2004 10:08 PM

Axxis gets my vote.

IALuder 09-07-2004 07:10 AM

well it looks like the cheapest i found for hawk were 80-90bucks for just the front and another 50-60 for the rear. expensive as hell. better last a long as time....

ill check in to axxis and see if i cant find a better price.

ChrisCantSkate 09-07-2004 08:21 AM

are you a prelude online member? i remeber a few months ago they had a HUGE discount on brakes. i think it was around 50-60 for a set of all 4 pads. i picked up brembo rotors for $30 something an axle. it was in the group buy section or something like that.

IALuder 09-07-2004 09:47 PM

no i am not. i dont feel like paying to post on a board.:o

thats something... i dont know to omuch about them though

IALuder 09-09-2004 06:21 AM

well i purchased the axxis ultimates. now to see if they are any good.

now to get the Spoon 4POT calipers!!!

GT40FIED 09-09-2004 04:03 PM

Remember man...even if they sat they come prebeded, it's a good idea to do it anyway. It's easy...and kinda fun...and it will make your pads last longer.

IALuder 09-10-2004 12:41 AM

tell me how first? never have delt with brake before.

GT40FIED 09-10-2004 01:38 AM

Man...what am I? An automotive dictionary? :D First get onto a freeway on ramp and get the car up to about 80 or so and brake HARD. Don't lock the brakes up, just get on them so they feel it. This is best to do at night when there aren't a lot of people/police around. Just do that a few times until they're nice and hot then let them cool off for about 15-20 minutes. Then do it a few more times. Then go real easy on them on your way home.

IALuder 09-10-2004 01:38 PM

so tearing the shit out of my pads for 20-30 mins will make them last longer. man i wish everythign was like that in the car world.

GT40FIED 09-10-2004 01:48 PM

Well...only right after you put them on. And it doesn't have to be for so long. You'll be able to smell them once you've done your job. That is, assuming you know what burning brake pads smell like

IALuder 09-10-2004 02:58 PM

i sure dont. i know what they smell like when there on fire...
