ATI ProCharge'd
191whp on chassis dyno

hmmmm.... that shit wont last long in heavy rains.... I think it's total waste of time to do some shit like that...

soundspeed 08-23-2004 04:36 AM

They said that it's a dx, but isn't that a D16Y8 motor. They put alot of work into it.

AzCivic 08-23-2004 06:45 AM

interesting..
"Here the supercharged Honda can be seen getting tied down to the chassis dyno for tuning. And tuning we did, as we saw 191 rwhp with the intercooler being cooled with the nitrous spray bar! That would be 225 to 240rwhp on a DynoJet dyno, and is hitting close to 300hp at the engine!"

rwhp eh?

i like how they have the intake situated right next to the intercooler so when ever they spray the nitrous to cool the intercooler it gets sucked right in the engine too. awesome design

Honda_Tengoku 08-23-2004 08:28 AM

vertical flow intercooler;) I do like that. as far as the filter goes its no lower than mine on my car.

so then...it would kinda be like spraying too then right?!???

;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

thats in indiana too....and correct me if im wrong but isnt that a turbo not s/c??

pdiggitydogg 08-26-2004 08:39 PM

its a centrifugal sc

JDMFantasy2k 08-26-2004 09:39 PM

first of all, i thought the d16y8 was only found in the civic ex for the most part, hence the dx has the same set-up, just without vtec.

Second of all, i'm not a fan of centrifigual supercharges, especially ones that are located in the bumper. IMO, it's dumb because you only get your max power at redline, because obviously if you ran too much boost at a low rpm, you would end up overboosting at redline. Doesn't sound very streetable to me if you need power
down low.

lastly, i love the fact that when you look on the dash, the maintenance required light is in the red.... you think they'd be able to schedule regular maintenance before starting a fabricated forced induction project:confused:

pdiggitydogg 08-26-2004 09:50 PM

you mean stick the key in that little slot and reset the tumbler?
I reset mine whenever...it doesnt rule the maint schedule w/ my car.

yeah, and possibly causing a dangerously lean condition and detonation, or at the least showing false dyno gains if the car was running rich enough to compensate.
