Oil : API Service SJ?!?! WTF?

ok i changed my oil today....fully synthetic quaker state 10W30 right..and THEN i went and read my little manual thingy just as i was waiting for friends for dinner and it said "Always use an oil labelled API Service SJ" and it kept stating to use "SJ". wtf is this SJ and will NOT using it fuck up my engine?

i checked the oil i used and it was "API Service SL" i have NEVER even payed attention to these labels before...is this going to cause a problem or should i just look for it next time i change my oil in 3000miles? By the way, i looked at other oils and i only found ONE oil jug with "API SERVICE SJ" on it

alright i looked it up for ya
and here it is:
SL is For all automotive engines presently in use. Introduced July 1, 2001. SL oils are designed to provide better high-temperature deposit control and lower oil consumption. Some of these oils may also meet the latest ILSAC specification and/or qualify as Energy Conserving.
SJ is For 2001 and older automotive engines.

and this is straight from the American Petroleum Institute or API service
it also notes that
"For automotive gasoline engines, the latest engine oil service category includes the performance properties of each earlier category. If an automotive owner’s manual calls for an API SH or SJ oil, an API SL oil will provide full protection. For diesel engines, the latest category usually – but not always – includes the performance properties of an earlier category. ( API)"

so to put it in a brief sentence, it is best for all cars to now use API Service SL, the older oil types are not as advanced
hope this helps ya bro
