Yeah...their first album was great...but everthing after that was just too abstract and speed-metalish for me (and I like slayer...what does that tell ya?

Somewhere along the way the Beastie Boys became childish. And not immature because tons of their classic shit is immature and still great. It's just that a lot of their stuff sounds like it's either rehashed from old songs or written by first graders. As for Linkin Park...they will always such major amounts of dick and I would invite them to copiously fellate me.

RxGoaT13 06-27-2004 03:25 AM

slipknots first album was freakin awesome the second and third not to great but still alright considering most of the new "metal" thats been coming out. but slipknot kicks ass in concert, seen em twice now.
beastie boys are cool, some of there shit is a little on the cheesy side but over all i like 'em
linkin park, hmmmmm... i liked when i seen them in concert before they were on mtv and hardly anyone know who they were, but they got played out quick. but i like there new video, breaking a habit ,or something like that.

nonovurbizniz 06-27-2004 09:50 AM

I have a tape deck.... and it's got crappy quality OLD OLD mixes in it...

I haven't bought an album in over 10 years.

No.1_Stunna 06-27-2004 07:54 PM

Shards, nice choices...Didn't know cali people knew about Modest Mouse...Ur like a japanese version of me I decided...Same music, same car (even though urs is nicer) and from one thread where we were talking about fighting same height/weight. Anyways... Been listening to Modest Mouse, Minus the Bear, Coldplay, At the Drive In, Mars Volta...that kinda stuff...Oh and when I feel like driving fast then Crystal Method...or for some fatty bass Fatboy Slim.

To be honest with you..At first I was indifferent about it! But now...WHOA! I like it...as for the speed metal..a lot of Acoustic guitar on this one.

DsBlu01CivEX 06-27-2004 11:22 PM

uh...I do believe I have "Monster Mix" or something like that in. It's one of those "Only on TV" cds....and it's all old school r&b and such. Like Bump N Grind, No No No Remix, etc.....

Kool-Aid 06-27-2004 11:47 PM

I don't know if you guys have ever heard of her, but I've been listening to a lot of "Dido"...something soft and chill to listen to...

OK, the Gimme Gimmes rule first of all.

And so does Ben Folds.

I was just at a wedding of some friends this weekend and they used "The Luckiest" as their wedding song. (Last track off Rockin the Suburbs)

Good shit

Not unless you like living in Kansas Anna. Haha. Maybe not never...but I would question the sanity of a girl who put up with me for more than 6 months.

No...that's rap.

Rap = shit

Real hip hop =

wal 06-29-2004 05:53 AM

each to their own??

wal 06-29-2004 05:54 AM

pls could you define real hiphop

GT40FIED 06-29-2004 06:08 AM

Yes...I can

Real hip hop is The Quannum Collective (DJ Shadow, Blackalicious, Latryx, Lyrics Born, Lateef, etc.), Jurassic 5, The X-Ecutioners, The Invisible Skratch Piklz, MC Paul Barman, Mos Def and so on.

Rap is trite. It's easy to pick out by it's beats and it's philosophy. Most of it involves some manner of wannabe violence or masogony on a canvas of played out beats and samples that have been used a thousand times before by other artists (and sweet fucking christ I use the term "artist" loosely). Dr. Dre, for example used to be a great hip hop producer in the days of NWA. Then he decided he wanted to take the mic and turned his talents into crap which he continues to parlay by way of Eminem and other artists who should die in their sleep and be forgotten about entirely (because if they died real deaths people might pay attention...attention unworthy of their lives). His beats and samples have become so redundant that I can play Dre rythyms and melodies on my guitar...and the guitar is the antithesis of rap. That is the essence of rap. Solely unoriginal and uninspired...it's just an easy cash cow for retarded suburbanite (mostly white) kids who like to think they're cool. You want real black culture? Listen to Latryx or Mos Def. You want cookie cutter bullshit? Keep listening to G-Unit and Jay Z.

wal 06-29-2004 06:33 AM

hey dont get me wrong i like mos def, the sugarhill gang, warren g, nwa and plenty of other old school ppl, however i still like ma jay z and 50 cent even though they might false and putting on a front, i still like there music i know what ya mean by now rap music is all about the money but i think if they were that bad then they wouldn't be so famous and widespread. however at the end of the day music is like marmite ya either love it or hate it lol.
