Mods mods what mods???

Todate I have the following: Aem Cold air Intake, Greddy Exhaust, Comptech Headers and High Flow Cat. What else can I do to my ride to get more speed out of it. plugs? pulleys? I want to stay away from waranty breaking mods. Just baught the thing... 2002 accord v6 3.0 vtec. sticker said 200hp stock so im very exited to work with this thing.

:)

A fairly effective way to make better power with the V6 accord is to rework the entire ignition.

Also if your not using any FI, then an ECU upgrade would be good, including lower vtec point.

Accord Man had good suggestions. I'd go ahead and get the pulleys (probably AEM for a non-warranty breaking mod). Another thing you might want to look into is a suspension upgrade to keep your tires on the road.

Fi ECU?? help... do not understand those acronyms.

phorcedaccess 01-04-2002 03:56 PM

Yeah im deffinatly in need of a suspension upgrade... its already starting to get the lurching feeling when i step on it.... Its a front wheel drive right??? just seems like the front end comes up pretty high right now during launch.

FI : Forced induction..

Basically means force feeding.
:)

For the V6 Accord, the pulleys wont do much good for now.

Yup Accords are FWD.

Sorry, I meant Front wheel drive.

:) ;)

Hmm.... I remember back on superhonda that bgod (I think it was him) dynoed an 10-11 hp gain and around 7 ft.-lbs of torque from the AEM pulleys on his V6 accord (2000 I think). He posted the dyno sheets to prove it and other than that, I think he only had I/E.

I know that all cars don't react the same, but its a cheap mod that I would do after you have done the I/H/E to free up a few hp.

What kind of FI is availiable? Ive searched for superchargers for the year model and I think its too new..

I believe you. :)

I know a few guys with demonic V6's. 2 out of 3 have pulleys.
Those 2 also have custom Turbos (both HKS setups), and shooting a considerable amount of NOS.

The things is that, yes the pulley will help your lower end, but for some reason it messes too much with the top. So unless you're gonna add something for the topend, the pulleys wont do you much good in battle.

Consider this, he has a 3.0 V6. It has a reasonable amount of low end torque. It's not head splitting, but thats ok. Cause at around 3k it starts to rip pretty hard, and it does so till cutoff.

:)

What about the warranty?? :o

Like I said, 2 of my friends built custom tubos on an HKS platform.

You also mentioned lowering the vtec point? is this a computer upgrade??

94_AcCoRd_EX 01-04-2002 05:46 PM

You can check out the Apex'i VAFC at http://www.apexi-usa.com/electronics.asp

It is basically a fuel and vtec controller in one. This lets you change the fuel curve, vtec engagement point, etc. Warning: you will need to put your car on a dyno to accurately tune and use one of these.

phorcedaccess 01-04-2002 05:50 PM

Sweet... yay i get to hack my cars cpu!!! Dyno?? Im taking that is a testing rig?? I should ask my friends at www.superiorracing.com to see if they have a dyno...
okay okay its a plug damnit......

A dyno that you will find in a shop is a machine that measures wheel horse power. (crank hp minus drivetrain loss). To get the most out of the VAFC you will need to dyno tune it to look for overall improvements as well as dead spots in the power band. Dynos are expensive to use and you pay by the hour, but that's the only way to tune well.

There are also just replacement ECUs made by companies such as Jet, etc. but I would just go with the VAFC for now. ECUs have to be programmed for the mods you have and if you keep upgrading, you have to keep sending it in to get reprogrammed.

best bet to keep the car cool under warranty garbage... is get a VTEC controller.... does a world of wonders...
hmmm..... yea an ECU upgrade would be great....

Remember with the whole warranty thing: the dealer has to prove that the aftermarket part caused the problem. That sounds good in general, but some dealers are pretty shady. They might say that your ECU upgrade caused ___ problem to happen and then you're screwed.

When I installed my CAI, I called the warranty service and they said that it was ok. As long as I replace the filter in my stock car with another filtration device it wouldn't void it.

Happy modding ;)
