After shipping, handling, tax it comes to about 73 bucks total.

aint a bad deal. its usually cost around 80-100 bucks new at a store. so i dont see why not.

this was another thought. should be just 67+ tax, it's new and come siwht a 3 year warranty.

samsung makes good drives. i'd go for that.

If you are going to buy an ibm beware, they are rated to run 8 hours a day. and if you run it over 8 hours a day it voids warantee. if they are ran over 8 hours a day they can die. i had two drives just completely stop working after leaving my computer on for about 6 days straight... Most people prefer western digital, i personaly like seagate (ahhh the silence)

that is completely untrue. you can run the hd 24/7 and not lose the warranty. they use the 8 hour/day to determine their MTBF rating. Mean (avg) Time Before Failure, usually in thousands of hours.

newegg has some pretty bad ass prices, so does tiger direct, i think they had a special last week for a 120gb for less than $60 +shipping

ShagginJet 04-24-2004 01:41 AM

Fry's has a 80 gig, 7200, 8mb buffer, for 69.00 plus tax.

ebpda9 04-24-2004 08:20 AM

try to beat my 16mb buffer ;) 60gig, 5400rpm, >12ms average seek times, 16mb of buffer, plus it's quiet that i can't hear it

have you talked to ibm? i contacted them and they refused to repair my drives... i only bought them 20 or 30 days ahead of time with a 3 year warantee

i have not talked to them, but if this 8 hours thing is correct then they shouldn't even have an RMA department because i'm sure 99% of the drives they sell have been left on for more than 8 hours at a given point.

i think they were lying to you to screw you out of money. i would have them show it to you in writing or get the BBB on the phone and get them to honor their warranty.
