B16-A2 Head needed

Okay, one of my buddies and I are going to pull an engine swap for him in the next few weeks, He is looking for this head, I'm sure you all know that it is a dohc vtech head from a 96-99 si. if any of you know where to get one at a reasonable price, he would be very happy.

If it's a USDM motor the dohc motor was only avaliable in '99-'00. On the si. And it's VTEC not VTECH, we don't drive with phones under our hoods.

That isnt true. It was also available in the states on the 93-97 del sol vtec model.

All the b16a heads are the same, so it really doesnt need to be an a2. You could get an a3 or an a1 (if you could find one) as well, and it wouldnt make any difference other than wiring (which could be a problem if you dont know what youre doing).

Your best bet is either importautosalvage.com, ebay, or junk yards. I dont think many motor shops will just sell you a head.

What Im wondering is what block youre planning to put the b16a (there is no "-") head onto.

oops I forgot about the sol. Yeah what motor is the head going on?

Fatal070 04-09-2004 12:48 AM

pidiggs u make me eat my words ... lol haha .... only thing about getting a a2 probally less miles ... thats about it... yup 96-00 ob2 though ....

USDM 93-97 del sol is the B16a3 makes 160 HP
the JDM 92-95 Civic SiRII B16a2 engine makes 170

pdiggitydogg 04-09-2004 04:43 PM

vtec sol 96-97 is a2

Honda_Tengoku 04-11-2004 02:27 AM

u sure pdiggs I thought the del sols where all A3's. From my understanding the A2's were all JDM spec SirII engines. Of course I may be wrong here.

pdiggitydogg 04-11-2004 10:38 AM

very sure
my buddy's 97 vtec sol is stamped a2 and its the original engine
another 96 vtec that he almost bought was also a2

I suppose its possible that they had different engines put into them, but the chances of that are slim to none.
(Both were owned by older women)

actually, the JDM b16 has no numbers after it. ITs just a b16a. I swear to god :D. i have a couple spare blown blocks to prove it too, goddamnit. SI = A2 Del sol = A3...usually. but in japan theres no number. its just got .2 more compression and a little better flow.

done and done.
