Does anyone know what the Hp is for the stock 1.5 sohc and the
zc dohc is?

IALuder 03-12-2004 05:01 PM

this belongs in the Civic forum. this is for questions or comments about the Web site not car.

1.5 = 109Hp. zc i beleive is 125. correct me if im wrong fellas.

civicrick 03-13-2004 12:48 PM

Well if the 1.5 is 109 and the zc is 125 ,
do you guys think $500 +s&h is worth it?

blind34_1 03-13-2004 01:08 PM

thats your call. If heard the 1.5 don't respond well to mods at all, whereas the dohc ZC, will do much better. I beleive there is another advantage with having DOHC, but I don't know what it is.

civicrick 03-13-2004 01:22 PM

well i know with a dohc i can put turbo on it bigger cam's gears and all that .

and the 1.5 you just s.o.l ( lol )

and i forgot to add for the 500 i get the tran: and the ecu.
the more i think about it the more i think i may get it.

thanks guys for your input.

AzCivic 03-13-2004 09:31 PM

i'd get it(the dohc ZC)

AzCivic 03-13-2004 10:47 PM

well actually how much is a b18b swap?

IALuder 03-13-2004 11:00 PM

1.5K

The Dohc ZC is crap - good luck finding parts for it after you swap it in . . . and it wont pass Cali Smog either.

IMO, D16Z > ZC (and that means a lot coming from me :chicken: )

ShagginJet 03-15-2004 12:50 AM

The SOHC ZC is a much better engine. The D16's are pretty damn good to. My 88' DX HB has a D15 in it that puts out 92hp stock. As for a turbo, np, you can turbo and D series very easily, and for less then a B series. That applies to the ZC's too, especially the SOHC. I've heard that the DOHC's are crap and a waste.

500 isn't bad for ZC with Tranny and ECU. Do you need the tranny? As for the shipping check with the person, most engines can be shipped for about 200$. Some peole charge as much as 400-600$ just for shipping. This is where the seller makes his money. Find out if it's any cheaper without the Tranny. (that is if you don't need it.)

What are you packing now, engine and tranny?

Depends on what 1.5L u are talking about. The D15B8 found in USDM 5th gen Civics make 70HP and has only 8 valves. The JDM D15B makes 130HP. There are a couple different D15 configurations.

IALuder 03-15-2004 12:21 PM

my 92-95 D15 was only 109.
