Please help stop Pit Bull ban in Chicago!!!
 

I have setup an online petition in regards to Alderman Ginger Rugai's proposal to ban pitbulls in the City of Chicago. I would really appreciate it if everyone could sign the petition and forward it to as many friends as possible. I don't want to eventually lose my baby, and I'm sure there are a ton of other people in Chicago that feel the same about their pit. Sure people perceive pit bulls as vicious dogs, but if you check the temperment testing results of dog breeds you will see that Pit Bulls and Amstaffs rank 4th out of the 122 breeds tested with a 95% pass rate. Even if you don't own a pit or live in Illinois your signature will help.

I know how you feel. My pitt is the sweetest dog I ever had.

Yup, so is my baby. She's a rescue and she's already great with everyone. She did nothing but play at our family xmas party with all the little kids. She is calm as can be and I don't want to lose her already..

the vicous (sp?) pit's are the ones that are neglected

You hit the nail right on the head man. It's the dogs that are bred for their intimidation factor and to run fights for sick people's amusement that become vicious. Then again if you treated any dog this way they would become a menace.

Don't punish the breed, punish the deed. Breed specific legislation is the animal equivalent of racism!!!

Damn...when are people gonna realize it's not the dogs, it's how they're brought up? I signed but not I'm sure what good it'll do...online petitions are pretty worthless from a legal standpoint.

Actually online petitions are a good tool in showing the voting officials how many people are going against what the proposition is. They won't hold up legally, but they defenately hold some weight when backing up your estimation of the general public's opinion on the matter.

That is, of course, unless the voting officials want some authenticathion of the "signatures".
