fuel filter?
ok so this may sound stupid but how the hell do i get my fuel filter off without it spraying gas everywhere?
i dont think you can???
*dont smoke and change your filter* |
so does it just spray for a minute or does it spray the whole time
start the car and pull the fuel pump fuse, the car will die and there shouldnt be any fuel pressure when you remove the filter.
i used a couple of small c clamps and clamped the hose as best I could. youll leak a little fuel, but keep them upright and they shouldnt dump too much fuel. (dont clamp too tightly, might rip into the line.)
Just do it the easy way... Take off your gas cap. That relieves the pressure in the system. You will get a little bit of gas that drips out, but nothing major.
I let the shit spray all over the place its not a big deal
oh yeah, the gas cap. i kinda assumed that. then i pinched off the hose and used gravity to hold the rest of it back.
Drive the car until you're out of gas, then pull over to the side of the road and change the filter.

haha When I replaced mine, there was no pressure at all to relieve. I held a rag over the fitting, to stop any gas from spraying, but there was no pressure... I also had a real tough time getting the new filter mounted back up to the firewall. I ended up cross threading the bolts badly in disgust. |
i just did mine like 5 mins ago.
the gas only dribbles out of the service bolt, maybe 2 tablespoons worth. |
