Our new garage has its first project.

We recently built onto our new garage, put up some vintage signs and stuff, moved all our tools over and everything like that. Well, i busted up my front bumper not to long ago, and my sideskirts had some cracks, so....i figured out a way to make fiberglass stronger while putting on the new bumper....well, since i went to repair all my fenders, i figured hey, i might as well repaint my whole car, cause matching red is hard as shit. So, when i got the new bumper, it was all busted up as most fiberglass bumpers are when you get them. So, what i did was i took the original broken bumper and layed it out. Took all the attachements off, brackets off, and everything else.. I then took the new bumper and glassed it into the original, making it 6 layers of fiberglass. To test it I took the top right corner to a tak hammer...and it didnt even bust. So I am very happy with the strength of the front bumper now. Here are some pics....

Looks good but i why is the probe so high of the ground the wheels gap is enormeus. wasn't it lowe before?

Civickid0to60 10-04-2003 04:55 PM

it still is lowered, its on scissor-jacks right now, i had to putty my sideskirts and in order to find all the brakes i had to jack 'er up.

ChrisCantSkate 10-04-2003 05:20 PM

garage space to work on cars and no jack stands?

Civickid0to60 10-05-2003 02:57 PM

like i said, we just built it, we bought them yesterday.

ChrisCantSkate 10-05-2003 04:30 PM

ive herd of too many people having a car fall and almost land on them or when it falls the brakes and suspension get ruined...

Jackstands are good

Civickid0to60 10-06-2003 03:28 PM

niiice... how much is that paint costing you? i know it cant be cheap.

Civickid0to60 10-06-2003 03:57 PM

its actually cheaper then you think, it was only like $650. but then again, i have friends in the import business who got it for me.

Looks good so far let us know when the project is finished bro. are u painting it your self or taking the car up to a body shop? Either ways if u decide that it has too much orange peel get some 2000 grit sand paper and have it wetsanded then get some heavy duty rubbing compound.

I love probes

Surprised to find another probe owner in these forums. The probe is one of my favoerite cars, currently mine is in the garage for some work as well. Nothing so glamorous, just average maintainance.
Nice whip.
More pics up soon, perhaps?
