What's the Quietest Exhaust on the market???
I'm looking to upgrade my OE exhaust with a higher flow Aftermarket one to go along with a header a friend just gave me.
I'm lookin for the quiiiiietest thing out there. Any suggestions? |
Remember to put in a high flow cat.. Thats where most of the restriction is.
For a quiet exhaust.. I have no clue. Some of the Brullen models are quiet.. |

The Tanabe Hyper Medalion is supposed to be really quiet. Also the Mugen exhaust if you have the $$, and Greddy SP and PE, Apex'i World Sport , and the Integra Type R exhaust are all supposed to be somewhat quiet too. |

Apexi WS?? If i'm not mistaken.. I think those are pretty loud! For sure not as bad as a dunk, but still loud. :) |
APEXi WS is on the louder side. Integra Type-R mufflers look good and of course are more on the silent side. i put a Ractive muffler on my civic the other day and damn, its so deep yet rather quiet, no highway drone either....its perfect. and only cost me $95 :)
|
I heard a few ractive's.. sounded good IMO..
The only thing is the quality of construction.. |
Toucan mufflers actually aren't that bad, I have sold quite a few of them and they have for the most part sounded good. for a good sounding exhaust your best bet is the greddys.
|
Kool, so it sounds like Greddy is the way to go then. It'll match my Greddy Headder too :) ;) :)
Anyone have a WAV of what a Civic w/ a Gredy can sounds like? |
I'm not saying Toucan Industries mufflers arent good.. Its just that when I examined one (compared to Apexi), the craftsmanship was definitely inferior.
--------------------------------------------------------------- If you are considering Greddy, take a look at what Brullen and Remus offer. Brullen has some amazing sounding catbacks. |

I haven't heard the WS for myself. But someone who has one said it wasn't loud. |

ok.. Cause in comparison to their competitors, most fo what Apexi builds is loud. :) |
I have a GReddy PE and my exhaust is louder than most.
Haven't heard the Hyper Medallion, but I love Tanabe exhausts. The Racing Medallion, however, is loud as hell, and a very high tone. I love the way they look and perform, but I hate the way they sound. My friend has a GReddy SP on her DelSol, and it's actually very quiet. It has a much deeper, throatier tone, but it's still quiet. Any A'pex that you can equip with a silencier would also be a good way to go. without the silencer you'd think a pack of Harleys was on the way, but with them they're actually very quiet. Once again, just a more aggressive tone. Then take out the silencer at the track. |
just dont gut yer damn cat please.....i was racing with a 99/00 white hatch and a 6th gen sedan today, the sedan was blowing out so much *** damn crap from the exhaust, kinda sucked cuz i was right on his ass and couldnt go anywhere else so i just hadda wait till he moved so i could get by. but damn, it was so much smoke, doesnt look too cool imo.
|
accordman I agree with you completely apexi is a much better looking and better crafted muffler. we have a N1 hanging next to a toucan muffler funny as hell. Welds on the apexi are so much cleaner. But you get what you pay for.
|
BlazinCrx..
Ditto.. That's exactly what I'm talking about! |
apexi dunk is loud? i hope not "that" loud.. i just bought one from racingworks for my civic.. on sale for $325 w/ shipping..
|
thermal R&D....quiet, deep tone, and easy to clean;)
|
Ractive exhaust sounds pretty good to me, the only thing that makes them bad are their welds. Not as strong as a lot of other compaines. IMO the quietest exhaust would be either Tanabe or zigen with scilencers. That's about it.

I love my RM. Mine isn't really that loud though- it seems like others are a lot louder than mine. |

and apexi dunk is very loud. thats why they make silencers for it :) |

ooopsss.. i already did  ;( ... 'should've asked first.. but thanks for the info. |
I'v decided to go with an Integra Type-R muffler & adapt some sort of silencer to it.
A friend at work has one on his Civic without a silencer & it sounds nice & smooth, but still a little louder than I want. I wanna trrrryy to get this thing as quiet as I can, without losing any performance. |

out of the bunch, the dunk is close to the loudest. Most cylinder shaped exhausts are loud. |

huh?! 5Ziegen exhausts are mad loud.. They sound good, but its very loud for a daily driver. :o |

same with Tannabe's Racing Medallion. |

LOL ok if ya look at it that way. ;) |
ractive muffler.......mmmmm so deep and not loud. massive amount of love for my muffler.
|

K I do like the sound of ractive's mufflers, but....BUT.....They kinda suck from what I have heard. (Not trying to offend anyone) Kause their welds break apart easy and fast??? True or not? Like i said, this is what I heard. |
In identical conditions.. the Ractive wouldnt last as long as a Greedy or Brullen...
|
That's why I'm not putting it on. I do like the sound...but 5zigen holds up much-o better. They sounds close to the same too right?
|
Dont by the Dragger style exhaust that Landspeed sells.. You want to talk about loud.. We are talking about Deafening.. I know..thats why I cant hear sh!t anymore.. I want to get a thermal after I get my Turbo..
(They may have changed them some.. its been over 2 years, pre silencer rave..) |
The only time I would ever put on a silencer is if I went on a road trip. Just to make it quieter because we all know going 120KMH in a civic it's reasonably loud espically with an aftermarket exhaust.
|
Ya Derek, 5ziegens sound nice.. Deep and aggressive.
 |
Thats what I'm getting for my vic.
