What car would you buy if you had $25,000

...you've read the subject....now answer the question and include why you would buy that car...and we are not in the market for a domestic vehicle, not even those damn SRT-4 (no offense or anything...)

Duckydos 08-15-2003 01:25 AM

I don't see what's wrong with the SRT-4's, especially since they have LSD's on the '04s.
But, for $25k, I would probably have to go with a used BMW M3 Sedan and go on a shopping spree at Active Autowerkes. Unfortuently, parts for BMW's are like twice that of Honda's, so the extra money wouldn't go as far.
Either that, or pick up a - used NSX.

PoleMan14 08-15-2003 02:08 AM

I would put that down on a new RSX Type S then pay the little remaning monthly.

ricerX 08-15-2003 07:39 AM

A new RSX-S should be less than $25k...look elsewhere if they want that much.

Personally, I'd buy another theft recovered GSR or maybe RSX-S and really hook it up. B&G S3 coilovers, full rebuild for FI, Procharger custom setup w/ intercooler running @ 16PSI, hondata, etc.

ebpda9 08-15-2003 08:20 AM

i'd get the rsx type s. i like how the littlebugger runs for a daily driver.

Whiteclipse99 08-15-2003 09:07 AM

I would probably get my Honda S2000 that I was planning on getting, but then decided to move out and get an apartment instead. I'd then just pay the remaining difference in monthly payments. I wanted that hot little 2 seater so much, but it was more logical for me to move out because I really don't need a new car, just wanted one really bad. ;(

Wren57 08-15-2003 09:08 AM

as always, it depends on what you want out of the car. if you want a beast, find a decent lexus sc300 5spd, rebuild engine to handle more boost, big turbo, then getrag 6spd swap... heres the prices for that:

sc300- 8k
rebuild w/ parts- 4k or less
turbo+fuel- 6k
6spd swap- 4k
rims/tires- 3k

enjoy your luxury cruiser beast:yes:

guywithastang 08-15-2003 09:53 AM

A brand new mustang GT:moon:

ebpda9 08-15-2003 09:55 AM

now easy there mister "mustang head". no mooning ;)

spoogenet 08-15-2003 09:55 AM

I'd get a Miata MX-5 LS. Then I'd save up for a nice blower, slap a removable hard top on it, and do some suspension/wheel/tire upgrades to it and start autox'ing.

FWD pisses me off.

-insurance is expensive
-lookin' for a reliable car
-RWD and SNOW can't be mix together (mustangs are RWD right?)
-great mileage is a neccesity
-not feelin' the style
-...and plus its got VTEC! LOL ;)

Wren57 08-15-2003 10:47 AM

not to start anything but......insurance is expensive, yes but I have no mecanical problems, get 25 mpg, no car under 25 has "style", and VVT will be available in 2005:yes: . Actually a monster miata would be sweet:thumbsup:

guywithastang 08-15-2003 10:58 AM

or a focus with the 5.0 swap:yes:

guywithastang 08-15-2003 11:00 AM

wait, no, scratch that, Hiyabusa:bow: with enough left for a nice winter beater.

sohc_vtec 2NR 08-15-2003 11:05 AM

the sc3 would be a nice project car with a million potential (can't u swap in a 2jz-gte engine in them?)

if it was up to me then i'd consider that but it is up to my older brother to decide....

Wren57 08-15-2003 11:07 AM

the sc300 comes with the 2jz-ge, the non-turbo version of the 2jz-gte. All that is different between the engines is the internals, and I believe the gte has a better flowing head/manifold than the ge. All this would be swapped to excede gte status in the price of 4k listed. Would your brother not approve this?

sohc_vtec 2NR 08-15-2003 11:16 AM

he might...it would be much better than the ACURA RSX-S that he intented to buy originally...

would be such an awesome sleeper...

this $25,000 is in a form of a car loan so i don't think its possible to just get the money to fund this "project"

V8killimports 08-15-2003 02:45 PM

I would choose a 58-62 corvette.. roadster.. all original, tuxedo black on silver, or red on white.

before i read the rest of the replys.. i godda say this.

those srt-4's are awsome little cars. i dont care what anyone things... they are f*cking fast. you spend a few 100 bucks and your in the 13's. they handle nice and they will eat my car as it sits now stock. you can say blah blah blah dodge this and neon that... but go drive on, dont think that its the same neon that every kid had chrome hubcaps on last year... cause its not. its about the fastest thing you can get for its money... besides a bike.

i would not buy one though.... simply because im done with the compact car aftermarket scene... been tehre done that... learned my lesson

I'd get a salvage titled car...

there's a place near me that sells PERFECT cars that got salvaged due to minor crap... they only buy nice one's to put on the lot (ie not totalled then fixed).

They have SEVERAL m3's for under 25k...

1997 BMW M3 Black Available bve10216 $15,900.00
1995 BMW M3 Coupe Blue Available bsh02754 $13,900.00
1998 BMW M3 Sedan Yellow Recently Sold bwe08777 $23,900.00

sohc_vtec 2NR 08-16-2003 03:48 PM

Chris: i agree with what you said about the srt-4 bein' a fast little boogers, but reliability is a big issue for us....

I'd actually have to go a yr before you and get a 57 Stingray...but if I were to get a newer car, I think I'd want to get an Audi S4 if I had to pick an import. I dunno...just something I like 'bout those!

Civickid0to60 08-18-2003 12:41 PM

I would get a twin turbo RX-7 and just use the other 15grand to make it a Beast.

pimpinprelude 08-18-2003 04:38 PM
