front wheel drive

hey wadup,

ive heard that all the civic h/b's have front wheel drive..is it still as fun as a normal car with back wheel drive?

94_AcCoRd_EX 05-08-2003 09:24 PM

Yeah, the Civics are FWD. Its totally different than a RWD, you'd have to drive both to see what you like better. RWD is more fun to play with :cool:

sohc_vtec 2NR 05-08-2003 09:27 PM

fwd = understeer
rwd = oversteer

blind34_1 05-08-2003 10:26 PM

oh their all sorts of fun to drive. You'll especially appreciate them in bad weather, so easy to control.

slowEJ6 05-08-2003 11:31 PM

s2k, nsx....rwd.
everything else...fwd.

no its not as "fun".

ebpda9 05-08-2003 11:38 PM

i like fwd a lot better.

troublesome 05-09-2003 01:31 AM

awww

I was thinking about buying one but now i dun think i want one anymore? Is their that much of a difference? can you still do fancy shit with a fwd?

blind34_1 05-09-2003 11:22 AM

no fancy stuff really. reverse donuts, thats about it.

pdiggitydogg 05-09-2003 02:07 PM

its harder to crash fwd

Mischief(LTS) 05-09-2003 02:07 PM

why not get AWD? subaru :P

Mushroom 05-09-2003 02:34 PM

Most modern cars are fwd for a reason. Understeer is safer and easier than oversteer; less drivetrain losses. There's also a reason why sports cars stayed rwd. It's better to push than pull.

slowEJ6 05-09-2003 06:52 PM

if you want a car to do "fancy shit" with, get an 89-94 240SX and act like a retard doing rwd burnouts, drifting on public roads and whatever else it is that no0bs do with their "fancy shit".

silver 05-09-2003 08:11 PM

dude, you're in australia, get a gti-r
awd turbo hatch, a civic doesn't even compare to it.

andy_reynold28 05-10-2003 04:57 PM

abart from the GTI-R is ugly.... (still a mini skyline though!!!)
Understeer is not safer in my opinion, least with oversteer you can correct it quicker. with understeer you just drift onto the otherside of the road, hit the brake it makes it worse, liftoff it drifts out even more, and put more powerdown it will lose more traction. RWD is alot more controlable imo.

how i wish they were legal here, i had the opportunity to buy one but felt it wasn't worth the hassle. yeah it's not the nicest looking car, but man how i'd like to pull up on a bunch of people one day and throw down with that, they wouldn't know what hit them. not many people know about that car, it'd be a great sleeper, especially if you could hide the intercooler.

nonovurbizniz 05-13-2003 06:27 PM

andy_reynold28 05-19-2003 06:34 AM

because it's cool.
no skylines, no silvias, nothing, if it's turbo, it is harder to meet the strict smog guidelines, so factory turbos are not as lucrative of a market.
