Yeah, XP isn't my fav, but you can fix these things. #1) - change registry value for ie setting #2) - how much RAM do you have? #3) ??? my owner? Login as administrator and fix any accounts. #4) You can reformat anyway if you want to. |
#2 256mb for now(but it worked fine up untill like a month ago)
#3 i cant log into admin(owner) #5....IE script debugging wont turn off and i keep getting errors |
So why can't you reformat? You need data off the computer first?
|
Windows 2000 = more gooder.

I second that  Though XP pro handles hyperthreading better, and you need XP pro if you have an SMP Xeon w/ HT configuration. |
reformat by putting the main OS cd (whatever you ran first(XP,Me,98)) in the drive and holding "C" while booting up (Ive done this several times).
|
XP > all
until i get this longhorn installed. we'll see if its any better. |

Ahaha, you're so funny Chris :D j/k ;) |
XP pro is what i have.....if i can delete the other profiles and figure out why my virtual memory is being hogged then i wont need to reformat
|
Is your VM set manually or by the machine? Make sure it stays one size if you set it yourself. You don't want the min and max to be different or it causes problems.

I think your swap file is being hit because you only have 256 MB RAM. Just let Windows manage it for now since you're having problems. Run a virus checker Get AdAware/Spybot and check for spyware |

1GB ram fixes all problems! Mwuhahhahaha! :bandit: 3.5ghz doesn't hurt either though. |

you know the thing about jokes... most of the time they could actually happen   seriously though.. whats not to like about xp? is it just the fisherprice interface? ok so disable it or make it look even better by implementing a skinning program or swapping out the entire shell altogether. i haven't had any problems with the OS specifically. :/ |

I haven't had problems with the functionality of the OS, but I don't like several things about it. 1) Don't like phoning home to MS when I make hardware changes. Its none of anyone's business what I'm running. 2) I don't like the extra services running. I know you can disable them, but its a pain after an install. 3) I don't like the interface, but I can live with it. My machine with XP on it just folds for now though, I don't really use it. |
