Jdm or Usdm?
which is better and which will be easier to put in and get parts for.
|
Eh, better would be personal taste with accessories, but JDM engines are usually better.
Easier - USDM because its right here. |
Keep in mind.. JDM probably wont pass emission if you have to worry about them, unless you put emissions stuff on your self.:o
|
if its a toss up for you then go for the cheap usdm stuff. If you like the subtle, function over form doctrine then go jdm.
|
If you are content with jsut a swap go JDM. If you want to take it further later down the road go with a usdm motor and then work the internals. If you do decide to get a JDM motor and need to pass emmisions that is no problem there is more than a few ways to pass with a few tweaks. Most of the time you can back down on the fual pressure or even add something that burns cleaner like a gallon or two of alcohol. I even had a buddy of mine pour a gallon of MTBE from home depot in his car to pass emmisions.

Xcuse me for being ignorant, but what really is the difference in JDM and USDM
|

depends on the motor, its usualy compression or something like that. less emmission devices, higher red line.... it varies |
JDM in my opinion

JDM-> Japanese Domestic Market
USDM -> US Domestic Market EDM - European Domestic Market JDM cars usually are just made better; engine, looks, everything. They generally have more powerful motors, better interiors (like power locks and windows standard), and right hand drive. They are also the only true Type R's (except for the type r integra, that you can find here). This is also why people go ga-ga over jdm nissan skylines, cause they are a superior car in every way. J-spec is another term that people seem to use interchangeably with JDM, but I think they are wrong. J-spec refers to aftermarket parts that are of a high enough quality that the japanese, who are concerned about the best performace, will use on their cars. This kinda means that a Tanabe exhaust would be considered jspec, while a pacesetter exhaust would not be. EDM isnt really a concern for most people, because while some of the edm cars have better engines, they're just not as desirable. I actually dont know too much about their stuff. Please someone correct me where I've gone wrong here, I'm sure I made a mistake somewhere. this is just my take on jdm vs. usdm also, maybe a JDM forum section might not be a bad idea (?) |
