the GPA
Would someone explain to me how the GPA system works.
What percent is a 2.5 GPA and what GPA is a 70%? |
A-4.0 GPA
B-3.0 GPA C-2.0 GPA D-1.0 GPA F-0.0 GPA |
Alright though that was very helpful mate our schooling is done in %'s so what %'s line up with those marks?
|
|
somewhere between 70 and 80/ more like a 75%
|
it depends on your school grade scale... but GPA is different than %. GPA is on a 4.0 scale, and % is obviosly on a 100 point scale. 4.0 is A 3.0-3.9 is a b 2.0-2.9 is a C and so on.
|
A=4
B=3 C=2 D=1 F=0 you take all your grades and give them the right amount of points then you average them out and you get your GPA |
They work on different systems, and so do some schools.
Here's my school: 4.0 - A 3.7 - A- 3.3 - B+ 3.0 - B 2.7 - B- 2.3 - C+ etc.... Anyway, some schools give an A+ a 4.3, which is BS, but that has to be accounted for. Anyway, a 2.5 is halfway between a C and a B, which are traditionally C = 70%, B = 80%, so 75% A 70% by the same reasoning would be a 2.0 |

thats how some of my classes assign points, but when it comes down to what the grades mean, 3.0-3.9 counts as a b... and so on |
So ~ 81% would be like 3.8-4.0 GPA?

No, 81% = ~B, so 3.1 |

ya basically there is no difference between a 90% and a 95% on the GPA system. I was talking to a proff today after some tutoring and he explained that it balances out peoples marks so that a student who get a few 100%s and a bunch of 50%'s will have the same or lower GPA as someone who gets mostly 75's. |
I never knew an 81 is a B. I always thought anything above 80 was an A. Oh well. :)

Well, the GPA system works on weighted averages. A couple of 4.0s and lots of 50%s (F) = 0, will get you close to a 0 GPA. |
