um...you are forgetting a 16 inch wheel with a 50 series tire is the same diameter as a 17 inch wheel with a 40 series tire....therefor the lighter of the two is going to be better for the car...I didnt forget rotating mass....and futhermore when it come to a 1 lb difference in weight on the wheels there is really not a big effect on quarter mile times...try it put some 16/50 wheel/tire combo on your car and run then put 17/40 wheel/tire combo on your car and run again...if they weigh the same you time should be no more then .05 different (assuming you have two runs that are very simular)...then try that again with the stock flywheel and say a 9lb flywheel...and you should be getting .1 better at least no matter what wheel/tire combo

Nah, he wouldn't run in the 20's. The 1/8 mile time might be bad enough for that car, but you have to add in that they have to sart running, which in a civic takes time. Also, past and 1/8 of a mile, your still accelerating faster and faster, and of course you don't have to start again, so that car would prolly run about 18's in a 1/4 mile.

Auto's and manualls should run very similar times. because every time you shift in a manual you have to let up on the power for longer than in a auto. and autos only have four gears, so its less shiftin up (time lost). The only part autos loss is on the launch.

That said, what the purpose of your new ECU? You ought to look into getting your car tuned. Prefereably on a dyno. Unless you are a horrible driver, somethings not right.

Not true. A large portion of the mass of the wheel is located on the outer edge. This being said, a larger diameter wheel combo that weighs the same as a smaller combo will perform worse. The difference might not be huge, but its there.

mines only got 4. mines a EG tho, 1.5. probley a different gearbox. But i don't no why everyone thinks Autos are slower. my dads got a 1.6 Nissan sunny (dont laugh) and that has a compression of 200 on all cylanders and its bout 15 years old. manuals always lose out on the change up.

Well a 5spd is going to be about half a second faster or more depending on the driver and such

Example

Me 96 4 door accord auto I/E 16.93
friend 94 4 door accord 5spd I/H/E 16.4(his first time at track)
They get us at the launch and beacause they can move the gears quicker While we sit in 3rd gear for most of the track they can get to fourth.

But that's not neccessarily going to gain you anything. I actually just top out 3rd by the end. It all depends on the gearing.

Is it bad? I think the redline is the top RPM you can safetly change of gear, but to pass of the redline, thats bad!

To get 25.8 seconds you would have to run 1/8 miles, stop the car and run a second 1/8 mile



Stock Ex's run a Low 17, i think you should get your car checked out, i know for a fact mine runs faster than that.

Really? That's weird cause even when I was stock I had to shift my car into 4th by the end of the 1/4mile. I didn't think that I had to my first run and bounced off the rev limiter 2 times before I crossed the line netting me a whopping 16.1 1/4 mile time.

My second run I didn't even think about staying in 3rd again and I netted a 15.9 with a bad 2.5 60ft.

The third run was a 15.7 with a 2.43 60ft

My last run was a 15.58 with a 2.31 60ft at just a little over 90mph

This was with my Si completely stock with 1,600 miles on the clock. I mean there are alot of other factors when it comes to running at the track like track condition, weather, elevation and such but I just find it odd how much it varies.

My best run this season was 10.689 with a r/t of .549.....that was when it was bone stock.:)
