Well, making a LONG story short, some guy (!@#hole) came driving up on my right side for no reason, no reason at all, and started yelling and cussin' at me saying he was a war veteran and how he was in vietnam and some other BS (yes, he WAS crazy), and then started swerving his car at me. Because I was in the far left lane, I had nowhere to go. He swirved his entire car at me once and I averted the hit...but not the next time. The second time he hit me and I lost control. I crossed over the 2 right lanes (where he went, I dunno) and then smashed my car into a curb damaging my front right wheel axel. After backing up to try to get this guys plate #, he was already speeding off. I couldnt catch him anyway because when I hit that curb it messed up the wheel itself, the power steering, alignment, and I cracked the left axle boot, not to mention something with the brakes. This accident happened about 3 blocks from my house so BARELY managed to drive the car home. My neck was hurting really bad so my mother called the Paramedics. They came, strapped me down to a hard backboard, put a neck collar on, and transported me to the ER where they left me there in the hallway of the ER for 45 min before a doctor saw me. Anyway, they prescribed me Vicodin for the pain. After filing a report with the PD, I am STILL awaiting a call back (this happened a week ago). As for damage costs...2,300 for the mechanical repairs (subtract 500 I guess because when I took it in for repair, I told them to go ahead and the the big 120,000 mile service) and 3,400 for the body work damage. I told my father I might as well get another car, but he insisted on paying for all the work and told me he didnt mind. I still feel bad, but I told him that one of these days I will repay him. Anyway, I now get to drive our back-up car...1994 Mercury Tracer stationwagon! I hate the thing! It doesnt even have a radio because someone stole it! If your wondering where I took my car in for repair....for the mechanical work, I took it to Santa Monica Honda Dealer and for body work damage, M2 Collision Car Center in Santa Monica. They only use OEM parts, etc. and it was recommended by the Honda dealer. Estimated completion date...10-26-02. Yay. I will post pics ASAP of the damage before I get the body work done.

Wow, that really sucks. You're lucky you weren't hurt worse! Good luck getting your car straightened out and actually getting a call back from the cops.

sorry to hear about it. hope you making out ok. would be real good for the cops to catch that guy. since your neck is sore get use to it i dont think it will be the same again. if they catch him at least you should be able to get a lump sum to take car of all your bills and something for you saving account.

once people reach a certain age I think they need to take driving tests (written and actual driving) like every 5 yrs. Maybe psychological exams too (by the sounds of the dude that hit you). What an @ass! I'm glad to hear that you weren't hurt worse than you actually were.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage. I can't stress this enough.

Last March I was hit by a drunk illegal Mexican in a fifteen year old Honda while driving a pickup truck. When all was said and done, the tailgate was facing the front of the car, the front of the car was looking left, and the police recovered a wheel from a yard a block away. My knees were ruined and my g/f cracked a vertebrae. The Mexican jumped the country, and my uninsured/underinsured paid for everything, and even paid out a >$10k pain/suffering settlement.

Buy it.

i had something similar happen in boston some F'ing guy hit my driver side on purpose then tried to speed off. i caught up to him and got a cop on the way.

Longstory short. he filed a claim first so my insurance company paid him off. his company refused to pay me b'cuz my ins. company paid him.

the retard boston cop never made a report (my fault too). so i got screwed.

still have the BD. My civic wears it like a badge of honour.

About the uninsured motorist...that is the first thing my father said to me and to have me look into. I called the insurance company and they told me that when they look into claims like that, they need a licence plate of the driver who hit me so they can run the plate through the DMV and find out whether he had insurance or not. BUT, since he drove off I didnt get any #...the person I talked to over the phone with the insurance company actually told me I was "out of luck". She was such a ***** to me anyway! No compassion at all!
As for my car being fully insured...nope. It wasnt. STUPIDLY, my mother just put liability on the car. After the accident, she immediatelty called and now I have full. My father was pissed about the fact that I just had liability.

Man...talk about getting the shit end of the stick. That old turd was probably senile thats why he drove. He knew that he would go to like "the old bastards home" . Sorry about your predicament. But her like Civic said the vicodin should make you forget all about him. ;)
