A friend of mine just got a brand new eclipse and he keeps raggin on about how its so damn fast. It's a GS w/ 4-speed sportronic tranny....bone stock. He keeps telling me how he'll put me to shame. I really disagree, but am hesitant at the same time. I know that I'm not the fastest car on the block, but I have AEM CAI, GReddy exhaust, and a lowered suspension and 15" wheels. What do you think, can I take on his GS?
BTW: His car is rated at 147hp, but is lighter (dont know by how much)
My car is rated at 150hp + i/e.

last time a race like this happened, my friend saw both cars try their hardest, then passed them both in a Dodge truck.

As close as the two are, its going to come down to the trannys. The shift points will likely make the difference.
Honestly you should beat him if you take out your subs. ;)
OT:
SVTCobra,
How do you like you Flowmasters? I just added the American Thunder to my Si. It sounds gorgeous. I was amazed that a Flowmaster would sound this good on a 4 cylinder.

oh the mufflers sound real nice. loud as hell. a cross between babies in a meat grinder and chewbacca getting shot. most cars back off once they hear it.

LOL! Yea I imagine its rather loud on your car.
I'm working on getting some sound clips up. Most people haven't heard a 4 banger with Flowmaster.....

didn't realize the weights were so similar. I just assumed that the smaller two-door sports car was lighter than my 4-door sedan. Sweet, then I'll let yall know what happens.
BTW: SVT: Is your friends Dodge modded, because I've beaten or barely loss to many heavy-ass Dodge trucks.

or it could be a base line v8 Dodge Ram truck with 0 mods.
who mods a pick up truck like that? no RT/10. not even close.
you can't beat them? that's sad. if hondas can't beat pick up trucks, what would ever make them believe they could beat me?
why do they bother trying to race me lol ?

i raced a rt 10 once from a stand still and it beat me but not by much, like 2 car lengts, and i had the car stock then. and i don't know but my car does not like it at WOT, it likes it easier, it's faster that way. i might be crazy but that's how i feel it

I'll take you all on with my '88 Volvo 240....yeah baby, feel the burn!!! The burn of my oil, that is. hehehehe....when Adam Sandler wrote the POS Car song, he was writing about my tank.
If I were to sell it, the classified would look like this:
'88 Volvo 240, Silver, runs. Will pay up to $200 o.b.o.

Wow, that is impressive. Just so you know, I have a G-Tech, and they tend to run a little fast, though they are consistent (provided you are on flat land).

yeah. they can be within the 1000th if ur on flat streets.
i know the perfect strip too. maybe ill have one in 2 weeks i hope.

Don't waste your cash in a gtech. You would be better off measuring a 1/4 mile and having a friend time you with a stopwatch. Those Gtechs are junk. I hooked one up to my car once and my 1/4 time varied a few seconds each run when the meter would actually read.
SVT Cobra
08-31-2002, 10:31 AM
damn. i hear good and bad about them. they do have a brand new g-tech out that is supposed to be better too ...? the g-tech performance meter pro competition for $250.. says it will be accurate to the 1/100 of a second...? ill have to get some reviews on it.

If you can set it up so you can run the exact same spot each time, they don't be bad. Remember, they are consistent, not super accurate. I have the normal G-Tech pro, which is the second version... I didn't know there was a new one. 250 is a lot to spend on it though.

over on stangnet 2 ppl recommended the tazzo. never heard of it til 5 min ago. they say it is very accurate and cheaper than g-tech.

The thing about the GTech is that it has to stay perfectly level in order to work. Try hooking one up and leveling it. It will continually read off the mark or not at all.

That's for sure. My friend has one. Takes a while to calibrate the thing.
That Tazzo looks interesting. The fact that you don't have to level it is a plus.
