I hear people say all the time "I've got a chip in my car...it gives me 20 hp!"
I havta say, that's pretty tough to believe. Does anyone know whether that's really accurate, or just bulls#!t...
If it's true, pls tell me, how exactly does it work?

You won't gain 20 hp on an Accord. A chip remaps the fuel curve, raises redline maybe, etc. I would advise that you chip your Accord after you are done with every other mod, because they are programmed based on the mods you have. You don't want to have to constantly get it re-programmed.

well i have a "chip" in my car... actually its just a new ECU that utilizes all the mods and makes it work at its peak performance... as well it gets rid of that dumb govenor:yes:
20hp is not a far off number just from that upgrade... but like 94 accord said... you gotta have the mods to do it.....
if im not mistaken.. the chip itself on mine added like 15 ponies.... i'll be getting dynoed in the spring... even tho my car sucks a$$

How do you know how much you gained if it hasn't been dynoed yet?

I also have a *chip*.
Unlike azn_nite_ryder's setup, my ECU works the piggy-back way. You hook it up to the oe engine control unit.

I wasn't trying to say you're wrong, I was just curious how you know. That would be great if you get the 15 hp out of it. That would really make it worth getting a chip.

What's the difference between setting up the chip "piggy back" or the setup that AZN has?
In what circumstances would one or the other be used?

the piggy back is hooked up to the oem ecu, and requires no modifications to the car. it's more like plug and play

Ditto..
both roughly have the same options..
But operate in different ways.. To my knowledge, their is no real advantage one rather than the other.
