I just wanted yall's thoughts on to whether or not Acura will ever try to step up and battle BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, and others in the luxury sport-sedan category... I know their 3.2 TL-S is very nice, but its not nearly as refined as the 528i, E class, or GS400... so when, if ever, will Acura step-up to produce a real upscale model? Here is the quote from the hondastyle front page:

"The new Acura sedan will go head-to-head with other premium sports sedans from Europe and Japan. It will combine a state-of-the-art, high performance i-VTEC engine and race-bred suspension with a luxuriously appointed cabin boasting the latest technological advancements and room to comfortably seat four."

It won't go anywhere near head to head with premium sport sedans, it will still fall short of its goal. So, anyone know if they have any plans to step up their game or will they always keep their cars for the masses rather than the elite?

well to step up and keep with the competition acura will have to increase power. by doing it the gas mileage will decrease considerably, emissions will increase and honda will always want to remain a "clean" car company

The only car they have in the line up that is able to compete is the 3.5RL which will be changing in the next year or so to a 4.0L V8 and there should be a total redesign done to it. The price will go up but so will the performance.. zoom zoom I can't wait.

To better answer your question, most likely not. They offer great value and thats the way most people see Acura/Honda. It will be very hard for them to push their pricing up with that image, it might require a new model to be launched.

honda always trys to please the majoraty, they will never take the steps that nissan or toyota have(infinity and lexus) and offer a all out luxory. the new rl4.0 might try, but i still see a lack of power and comfort/ride

lack of power no. From the numbers i've been hearing from my friends at down town acura this motor will kick ass. 300+ of both hp and tq. As for ride quality yes, even my current RL is somewhat lacking. Nicest car i've been in was a merc ride quality wise
