I just was reminded that i have court tomorrow, i'm shitting my pants now.

Well i've got the look down, I'm going to wear:
-black leather dress shoes
-black dress pants
-black dress shirt
-dark blue micro fiber sports coat

this combination seems to look good, though it might not sound like it.

But all i really have to say in my defence is:
-first offence
-6points and $375 (reckless driving) seems a bit much
-my head was already at work (where i was heading at the time)
-conditions were rainning and in my hast i didn't take that into consideration at the time - i have since learned otherwise
-the woman I hit was my neighbor, who i later that day was able to save her alot of time by printing off some documents she was on her way to print (some 30min's away at her sisters place) for a business meeting. Her name is Mrs. Chan and she lives 2 blocks from me.

alright people i'm going to see an officer of the law tomorrow to see if i can get these charges reduce and if i can't get the points down to zero then i'll be filing for a judge. I really dont care about the cash fine but i can't afford to have 6 points, my insurance with tripple.

Do you think thats enough in my defence? Alright legal people out there fill me in, sorry for the last minute post but i've had my head in the clouds.

blame more on the rain... and dont say you were thinking of something else... that to me sounds like your not paying attention to the road.

-Accidents like this happen, and it was a simple collision. this really isn't wreckless driving from what you described it to be.
I don't really ahve any legal ways that I could describe it....but I think you get what I mean.

Might be to late, but try getting a letter from Mrs. Chan explaining what happened, and how she feels. Of course only get the letter if it will benefit you though.

That's all I can think of.....GOODLUCK

Exactly! BS excuses won't get you anywhere. They just make it look like you aren't a good driver. Remember, a good driver adjusts to driving conditions.

tell them you had the cellphone in one hand, and a ciggaweed in the other, plus you were watching some porn on the in dash dvd. :loco:

i dunno how this works in canada but my mom was involved in an accident and we dealt thru the insurance companies with no court.

The only thing that'll help you a little bit is it being your first offence...those others will only make it worse for you...don't say any of those...
except the fact that it was raining...

Your mom probably didn't get a ticket.

update:

officer didn't file enough information at the time and i need to go back to court and this time infront of a judge. If there still isn't enough evidence then the charges will be drop. And if there is i'm going to whip out my incomplete ticket and use that to get off... dam i love company lawyers those guys can get you off anything.

Everytime I've fought a ticket in court. it got dismissed. the cops either don't show up or they loose paperwork...

all of mine have been for speeding.. You can question when the last time the radar gun was calibrated... this is often not done at all and it MUST be in order for a ticket to hold up in court.

And what all the people said is true.... don't go to court with excuses... the plea is guilty or not guilty not guilty but I didn't really mean it.

A letter from Mrs Chan saying that you didn't hit her like a bat out of hell. and that it didn't seem recless to her will help. any witnesses that were there that could reiterate that point would be helpful.

Just explain that you think that driving too fast for conditions would have been a more appropriate fine not reckless driving.

This is of course unless you were obviously driving like a dick in which case the judge will take one look at the cop when he's thinking "this kid is full of shit he wacked the crap out of that car"

and promptly increase your fine.

but too late to back out now.

Good Luck
